Biography
KARINA and FABIAN were born and raised in Buenos Aires Argentina, amidst steep family tradition of tango, and they were introduced to the dance through their families from the early age and represent a third generation of tango dancers.
They learned their ‘first steps’ from Fabian’s parents, Orlando and Marta Conca, respected milongueros themselves, and were later absorbed by the milonguero style of Tango Master and great milonguero Carlos Gavito. With Gavito, Karina and Fabian found the gateway to express their feelings through the dance.
The milonguero style is danced in close embrace with a constant connection between the partners. In this milonguero style lives a true spirit of tango where the dance blends feelings between a man and a woman... like a silent dialogue of music and romance.
Over the last five years their style of dance has become strictly Milonguero, Apile and milonga Traspié, as it is danced in the most traditional Milongas porteñas in Buenos Aires. Their teaching has a strong emphasis on this style, and focuses on elegance, romanticism and sensuality; reflecting their tradition and culture, rather than a sequence of steps. After promoting this style in Sydney for several years, Karina and Fabian have now undertaken an initiative to promote this style across the country.
